Well Family, it's quite humbling to say that this is the last first week I will experience of transfers on my mission. That is, 6 weeks until ya boi is back reclaiming his little part of California.
This past week was pretty cool not gonna lie. Conference always brings a smile to my face. I know it's cliche, but I definitely felt the directness of the message to me. I'm y'all felt the same way. Those guys are all extremely inspired and I'm so grateful that we have the chance to be led by such great men.
First and foremost, Holland did as usual, and Killed it. I love how these days, the talks have become shorter and much more straight to the point. I love it. In the scriptures Nephi talks about how he is not really blessed with the Ability to speak well, and that he glories in plainness. This past weekend was awesome because what they truly encompassed the message Nephi spoke. They spoke with plainness and with the Spirit. It was dope! We are led by some inspired dudes and It's for sure a huge blessing.
The Priesthood session was awesome, and I loved Uchtdorf's talk! It was awesome, also the talk about humility was great, and really touched me.
This past week has been kind of a bitter sweet time, realizing that this truly is the end. I think part of me still hasn't come to terms with that.... but.... It's happening. 43 Days until it is done.
We had a pretty sweet service project in the Pelicans arena. There was a Gospel Concert/Service where we went and helped out. We helped people sponsor kids. Walked around and tried to get people to sponsor them. It was pretty cool. Definitely a memorable experience!
Ok so district meeting was awesome. We talked about the resurrection and about the tomb, in the bible, one of the Gospel accounts talks about how Christ left the sheets in the tomb. That he wrapped them up and placed them on the stone. In ancient Jewish culture after completing a meal, those who ate, wrapped up there napkin and placed any leftover food inside to show that they had finished and were done.
It's way symbolic how Christ did the same, once being resurrected, he folded up his "napkin" so to say and rested it there on the bed symbolizing his fulfilling of it all. In that moment he had completed all. It's cool to look deeper into the scriptures and truly understand those little symbolisms.
I'm excited for this Transfer and hoping that we can bring Tyrell and his fam to the waters of baptism but also to find others that are ready for this. I love you guys! Thanks for always emailing and encouraging me to be better!
Have the best week.
I've truly been blessed!
Love,
Elder Whitmarsh
