Man, Honestly this has been a sweet week. One of the best on my mission.
I'll start off with the sweet stuff and keep it short and sweet.
Yesterday at church, once again almost all the hispanic members came. The ratio of english to spanish no joke was almost 1:1!! I was so pumped!! To make it even better, our investigator Arturo came, and he loved it. We have been teaching him for a while now and he finally came! So that made my day.
Well, I'm sitting there translating for like 10 members and it is the coolest thing ever because I actually am realizing how much growth this branch has had since I got here. Remember a few months back when we had 11 people at church including counting the 6 missionaries. We we had over 13 spanish members there yesterday which was awesome to see!
It gets better. After the first hour we go to class and all the hispanic members are in there own little room. The lady called as the sunday school teacher actually prepared a lesson. So we are sitting there in the room, with our investigator by our side, with her teaching about the Book Of Mormon. After a few minutes it turns into everyone bearing their testimonies to Arturo and the spirit was way strong. He was enjoying it all. Some less-actives started whipping out scriptures that talk about the Book of Mormon in the Bible from Memory!! This guy hadn't come to church in months, yet shows up and starts quoting, psalms and revelation and parts of the Gospels from memory. It was a neat experience!!
Mid Class, this lady got a little off topic and started cracking jokes about me, and so I backed my self up by throwing one right back! Everyone was dying and then we got right back into the lesson. Next thing you know it was back to "Lets all throw shots at Elder Whitmarsh" haha it was real funny. Well, one of the ladies was like "Elder Whitmarsh is one of the craziest Elders I've ever met, always just trying to make people laugh and smile and feel like they are always having fun" People took that as "Lets throw more shots" hahaha..
But then one lady steps in and just says how although they may 'think that i'm crazy, that she has seen me have more of an effect on people than any other missionary because i can relate to them by being normal and acting like them.
It was just a neat experience. One of those booster up that kicks and tells you to keep on going :) It was awesome!!
This saturday we have a pretty cool opportunity! We get to hear from Elder Rasband because he is coming to our mission for a mission conference. So thats about to be sweet. Not to mention that mardi gras begins this weekend so it's about to be real crazy down here in Louisiana. I'll have to make sure to get lots of photos since I don't have any this week! Love you all!!
