Every week is getting faster and faster. This week was no excuse either. I can't even remember what happened.Monday we had a good time. PDays are so needed in the mission. I never would've thought one day of the week could mean so much but since being on the mission, it seems every PDay gets a little bit better. When you hit sunday its like everything is just perfect. Taking the sacrament and taking a few hours to just sit down and listen, you go home eat lunch, go see some people, quick coordination meeting, more people, go to bed and then PDay. it's the greatest thing ever!!
Tuesday we had District Meeting. And then as a district we all went and helped with that yard again for the old man. It was even better this time too! We then went and saw people and then had a dinner appointment with the Allen family. So they are a less active family and they love to feed us what they call 'Dirty Diapers'. I was skeptical at first but let me tell you... They are one of the greatest things I have ever eaten. For those of you who have had the Taco Bell Cholupa... I'm sorry taco bell is a lie. They stole their recipe from the Allens. He said this has been around for over 80- years... Yep it blew my mind!
Wednesday is probably our busiest day of the week. It just feels like we have so much to do!! In the westbank we are covering three areas so there is so much to do and not enough time to do it... In the end we are able to do even less because we spend so much time going back and forwards that we don't really get time to just focus on the area. But yeah the days are packed. My favorite it this less-active name Walter. He is like big in charge of Harrahs Casino in NOLA. Its like the biggest casino and he always hooks the missionaries up!
There is this other lady name consuelo pardo who is awesome. She gives us huge amount of food and always says "Don't suffer my boy, we in america, we in america my boy, eat up"
Its so funny the other day we were there and she gave us watermelon and I ate only one piece just so she would say it. As she started saying it I said it with her and then she just stops and smiles and says "Ok, you have learned well my boy" The people here are so awesome. I'm way grateful to have the opportunity to be in the Westbank part of the westbank instead of the Marrero part. Its awesome.
Friday we had a zone training meeting and that was pretty awesome! But what was even better was just getting to see all the other Elders and Sisters. I said goodbye to Elder White then, who goes home this week! Its hard to believe.. When i was in Opelousas he was at maybe 13months.. Time flies because it feels like just yesterday I was in Opelousas!
Saturday was the big day. We started out helping the Branch President move houses and that was good fun. We moved from 8-12 and then they took us to get Shrimp PoBoys. I'll be completely honest. The thing I am going to miss the most from down here is definitely the food. Having the chance to get a little Hispanic Southern mix I think makes for the best food in the world. Not to mention some of the most loving people. I guess all the good food is made with love..
Saturday evening we had a party at Armandos... He got some tres leches cake. For those of you that don't know it means three milks. Its made with Evaporated milk, condensed mil, and I think normal.. Its way good. Well, Hispanic tradition says that the face of the birthday boy has to be slammed in the cake! So they start chanting "Muerdelo Muerdelo Muerdelo" (Bite It Bite It) So the person goes to bite the cake and they slam the head into it. Ok so I go to bite it real quick and did it too fast for them to get me. They all started chanting even louder for me to bite it. MUERDELO MUERDELO MUERDELOOOO! I went down to bite it and the next thing you know there are like 7 arms on the back of my head. I got up and started sneezing hahaa. Cake everywhere, in my Eyelids up my nose in my mouth. Good Fun. There'll be a video and pics below!! Armando bought me like this $120 watch with Jewels all over it. It was way nice of him. But I swear it was made for a girl hahaha!! I love Armando.
The Office sent me a little birthday card and everyone signed it. It was pretty funny because President tried to use some Australian slang which I have no idea what he was trying to say.. And sister Hansens message was funny. I was not expecting it. She said "Elder Whitmarsh you are the #1 Homie. And that's is because you were the first missionary that we met!" It was pretty cool haha. Made me reminisce of the good old MTC days.
Anyway, it was a great week. To top it off at church on sunday President Fossati came up to us and told us something way cool. He said "I have met with Bro. So and So, and he is getting baptized this saturday." He has been coming to church for years and everyone thought he was a member. So we are going over the lessons this week and he will be baptized on Saturday! He is a way cool guy! We about to get a baptism!! I'm way pumped! We have three other investigators that are progressing pretty well y I think they could be the next candidatos. I'm excited for this area and what it has in store!!
Love yall!
