So this week really was a party. There are so many things that have happened just since being down in the west bank and I really am not able to explain even half of them in this space. Ok so first up.
Well we started out the week with P-Day and followed that up with District Meeting the following day. The night of P-Day we went and saw many people and had a few cool lessons. Tuesday was district meeting and we were then asked right after to help somebody out.
Ok here is where it gets crazy.
So there is this member of the ward who called us and said she had somebody who was needing our help. We went over and talked to her and she explained that he had a little painting to do. Ok so we head over there to help this man out with the painting. When we get there it turns out he needs his WHOLE house painted. And it wasn't the inside of the house. It was nuts. Well we had already told him that we would help him out and so we got to work. He had a full on paint sprayer and everything. So we did as much as we could. We stayed for about three hours because we had a bunch of appointments to go see and so we told him we would come back the next day and finish up. Well at 8am we showed up and his wife had breakfast all cooked for us and so we ate and then went to work. Same thing again, since we had appointments so we left just after lunch time.
We really didn't realize what we had gotten ourselves into. The painting took forever. Well we came back the next day and knocked it all out. The lady cooked us breakfast and lunch, and ill be completely honest, that was some of the best food I have had in Louisiana. It was good. Well we finally ended up painting the whole house and he was so greatful. I mean I would be too if some people came over and were willing to do all the work for me for free, but yeah It was a good time. All throughout the painting we were sharing the Gospel with him and his family. And before meals we would pray with them and share a quick message. His wife was very interested in the Book Of Mormon and wanted to read it. She told us that she would read with her Husband a little every night. It was a cool experience.
Also, we helped in a food bank one of the mornings this week. It brought back great memories because I saw all the exact same people that were there when I started the beginning of my mission. They were all like "Big Reddd is bacckk" Haha.
Ok so funny story. So everyone was trying to pull these boxes off the top shelf and they were too short to reach and so they struggled a little bit. I was in the back of the room packing boxes. One of the ladys screams out "Get Big Red, He's a TALL glass a' wata'" So I came out and helped them out. When I bent down to put the box down the lady was like "Oh and he a good looking glass a' wata' too." Hahah I was dying. Then I hear some other lady shout out "Nah he a tall good lookin glass a' carrot juice". It was hilarious!
Saturday was our Branch Fathers Day party for the Spanish ward. Can I just say I have never seen a ward get down at a party as much as I have seen this Spanish ward get Down. Like for real! It was a good finding opportunity and a good time to set up appointments for the week so It was really helpful and fun. There is this one member from Honduras who I forgot about but I forgot how funny he was. All he was doing was making fun of the new sisters spanish. He then brought me over and was telling her about how my spanish sucked until now. I remember him always teasing me about that when I was here last.
Oh ok, so one night just after visiting a member we came across some of the coolest graffiti art I have ever seen. Like this stuff was unreal. I have so many photos to attach but they aren't going to all fit so some of you might miss out on a little. But it was pretty cool.
There was all this Portuguese graffiti too. It was funny because I could understand alot of what they were saying. So I was pumped for that.
Sunday was church and it was really cool being back in a spanish branch finally! Liike it was so refreshing just being there and talking with the members who 1 year ago, I wasn't able to really talk with. So I am super grateful to be back in this area. I'm so grateful for all that my mission is teaching me. I think the coolest character trait is just being able to be grateful about each and every thing!
Today we went down to the Bayou and got some sick Pics... I also grabbed an alligator that was in the water. Trynna bring out that inner Croc Hunter.
Love yall.
