So we got the call last night..... and yep, I am no longer in Opelousas. I love Opelousas so much. Especially the people here So much! I have learnt a lot from everybody here and they truly have touched my heart in one way or another. I was thinking last night and really was thinking of all the good memories I have had here. We had to stop by walmart real quick. I looked around and literally could have named every worker that was there. They wave and talk to us every time haha. I decided that If I know every employee at walmart, then i guess it is time for me to move on.
OK so I am going to put a few things I learnt being in the Opelousas Area, but specifically the Opelousas ward. I know some of y'all will be reading this...so don't get too upset haha.Sister McDavid taught me that you can never be too old to party. You can never be too old to enjoy life. No one can be as loving as Cathy McDavid. The Nations family taught me to enjoy every minute of life, even if it was getting my butt whooped in a dance off. Nobody can cook a better crab, shrimp pasta dish than Stephanie nations.Troy Doucet taught me to make sure I am sure about my wife.
Also, every man in Louisiana knows how to "Burn a Spread." We can all burn down here. (Cook a good 3+ course meal = "Burn a Spread')Bro Jarnagin taught me to make the most of everything. His slogan is "It's not a crime to baptize.."Sis Freebairn taught me not to play video games because my wife will hate it and also to be Patient with what God has in store for you! And to be Confident in my Spanish.Bro Freebairn taught me stay away from essential oils, especially if your wife loves them.Bro Longoria taught me how to enjoy spaghetti for once in my life. Spicy Cajun spaghetti and meatballs. The Castille family taught me how to handle spicy food. If there is anyone out there who doesn't like spices, then stay away from them haha.... Especially the megadeath sauce.Wally Richard taught me that Squirrel Gumbo is not very good. And that a squirrels spinal cord is very bad.. don't eat a squirrels spinal cord.Bishop Schlosser taught me how to love Everyone and drop everything and anything for a person in need.Bro Nations Sr. taught me how sweet your hair can look when you're an old man... Also a beard can look fresh!Opelousas taught me not to drink the water otherwise you WILL end up with some kind of illness when you're older.Eunice taught me that I really did love Opelousas A LOT more...and the Whole Opelousas ward taught me that Louisiana has probably some of THE most loving people I have met!
well, I learnt a lot here... It's time to move on and I am pretty nervous but pretty excited at the same time. I will see what Wednesday brings and see how these next months will play out for ya boy Elder Whitmarsh.
Also, we caught a turtle this week. I actually killed it, gutted it out and turned it into my transfer turtle. Now everyone gets to sign my turtle shell which I lacquered and have my name on. Photos next week.
We got photos in a craw fish pond. Unfortunately there were no craw fish. But It was a good photo so that's cool.
love y'all heaps and hope y'all have a great week!!
Love,Elder Whitmarsh
