Merry Christmas and A Happy New Year to everyone! This week was awesome and definitely one of the most busiest on my mission!
Started off with PDay and district meeting and then quickly just turned into a huge party. The people down here know how to do two things very well. Eat, and Party. I guess they go hand in hand. This whole week was a huge party. Just a little preempt of what is to come for this Mardi Gras season.
It was kind of bitter sweet knowing this was my last Christmas away from home, and alone. Next year is going to be completely different, and almost the complete opposite. Can't wait to be back with the family :)
Well we had a sweet lesson Tuesday with our new investigators Julia and Anival. They are sick. We had a sweet lesson about the plan of salvation. These two know their bible. So that morning, Elder Shaddick and I prepared a sweet little lesson using pretty much all bible scriptures except like two to finish it off. We get in the lesson and start with a prayer and start talking. They got super pumped when we said we would be using the bible. We began and got into great discussion. We read the scripture talking about when Christ came to mary and said "Touch me not" because he had not yet appeared to the father and we then read where on the cross Christ said "Today we will be in Paradise".
We had a little discussion on what that meant and where he was in between those few days if he hadnt yet returned home to his father. They couldn't answer. We talked about how the Bile and Book Of Mormon work hand in hand and how they both testify of Christ. We read a sweet scripture in Alma that talks about this. They were super pumped about the book and started reading really deeply into it. He had many questions. But it was one of the cooler lessons I have been in.
My favorite part was the fact that the bible allowed us to slip in some answers. Many times the people dont realize what is missing and this was a perfect example of how they can work hand in hand. We finished with a prayer and she started praying. It was kinda cool experience when she stood up and started praying while her hand was outstretched aiming at us. I was a little confused. But the words she said touched me. "Bless These Two young men for helping us to recognize lost truths in the bible. Bless them for sharing your word as you have commanded them. Bless us that we may understand and gain a greater knowledge of your plan father" It was just a super spiritual moment and I felt way cool knowing that these two young people are earnestly seeking to find more truth!
I'm excited to see where it goes.
Christmas Eve was great, we grabbed us some eggnog and some BlueBell Ice Cream and had a good night. At 12am I woke eveyrone up and we all went and opened our presents. It was pretty fun. We thought we would do something new this year!
Christmas morning, the two new guys were running around frantically trying to get ready to see their family for the first time. It was funny to see how nervous they were and look back on me last year! good times!
We went to miss Gerries house and her daughter came and she began to ask us all these questions. It was kinda cool just sitting back eating breakfast but being able to share our beliefs at the same time. I love being a part of this work!
Seeing the family was Awesome! Although I just saw them like 4 weeks ago. It was definitely a good time! It was good to see Aimee again too! I've missed her! Pretty much a great day getting to see all the members of my Fam. :P
Love you guys!!
On Boxing Day elder shaddick and I went to get something real fast and on the way we saw a frosted Christmas Tree on the side of the road. It was like a 7 footer. Well we grabbed that sucker and squeezed it in the back seat of our corolla. It was hanging half way out the window and it was pretty funny! It was definitely a good memory. Ill attach some pics below!
I love you all and hope you have a great new year! Transfers is next week so I'll be emailing Tuesday instead!
