Just want to say congrats to my sister! You're going to do awesome in Missouri Aimee!! Go get it.
This week once again a lot happened! I think the weirdest thing on your mission is seeing people you know go home! Another two people I know have now returned and time is coming faster and faster up on me.
But yeah the week was awesome!! I had the chance to go on exchanges with the zone leaders. I pulled the lucky straw I guess because I got one of the Elders I started my mission with. Elder Passey. It was pretty cool because this area was where he started his mission and also where I began. So it was a cool opportunity going around teaching people, some of which he had taught when he was here. It was a fun time and I learn't a lot!
Eddy is still on track to be baptized this Saturday! We are finishing up the lessons with him this week and Saturday will be the big day! I'm excited for him. I think President Fossati(The Branch Pres.) will be doing the baptism because he loves him, but there will definitely be some photos coming through! I'm super excited for that one. Juan and Maria are still making progress slowly but surely and so hopefully things will continue to push forward. Also this week we were able to make contact with some former investigators who are interested in talking again. Overall it has been a pretty successful week!
Wednesday when we had the food bank, we saw this lady who talks to us every time we help her with the food. She is the sweetest and her name is Miss Ruffin. Well little did we know that her sister was a member but very less-active. We always talk to her about church and stuff and then she will just say funny little comments like "Red, you have some beautiful hair! I love it." Then she will tell all the other elders to dye it like mine. "That golden color will have all the ladies chasing him"
haha Every week I swear she says the same thing. We always have to redirect it from the hair back to church! Well on Sunday, she shows up at church. I don't know if any of you know but when a older black woman goes to church down here, she GOES to CHURCH! They go all out. Black hat with some veil kind of hanging down and feathers and stuff.. A nice dress with a cardigan and an umbrella. I mean, they go hard!! It was awesome seeing her there!!
On P day we got some more sweet pictures. Especially with the Polaroid camera and the city in the background! It was pretty cool. But yeah, I'm going to try and keep getting alot of photos for these next few months! Just to keep everything up to date with how everything is going!
We are almost coming to the end of summer which is awesome. I love summer but down here I don't. I don't know what they call it but everyday you walk outside you get a Louisiana bath. That sweat gets you good. Anyway, things are going great over here.
On Sunday we walked into church and a new Branch President was called for the English branch. Finally. They definitely needed that. haha the Past branch Pres kept offending people and all this dumb stuff just by things he would say at the pulpit. When people were speaking he would make up nicknames on the spot or say stuff like "Ok now Brother So and So will be talking about Fornication" And then everyone just gets mad... ha ah when he was released yesterday he gets up and says to the stake president "President Stock, I don't know if I told you but we recorded the first same sex marriage of the Mormon church." The stake president was so confused haha.
Then he said "Yeah I guess you put the wrong gender and so it bounced back from salt lake saying there were two males. Did Pres Monson call you for that?"
It was super awkward but I was kinda dying in the back there!!
For Spanish I had to give a talk. I think that was the first time I have been the last speaker... But man that was rough. My comp definitely left me more than enough time! But things when really good.. I talked about Service and the importance of service, mentioning parts of M. Russell Ballard's talk from conference. I think it went well.
Elder Lisonbees talk was way funny.. He had alot of the members dying when he said in Spanish:
My favorite thing to do is hot tubbing. He tries to say it in Spanish and says "In Espanol I think it is Tubbing Caliente" It was way funny!!
Anyway, next week is transfers and so I won't be on on Monday! but I'll be here Tuesday! Love you guys!!
