So this week was a pretty funny one. It's already been filled with some funny stories.
My Companion is Elder Jace Shaddick. From Haraman Utah. If I chose one word to describe Elder Shaddick it'd be Funny... He has said some of the funniest things this past week.
So I guess it was pretty inspired that we should be together. About a week before transfers Elder Simmons and I came across a Deaf Lady who was interested in Hearing about the Gospel. We had no form of communicating with her except for writing some stuff down on paper. Well, I get a trainee, Elder Shaddick. President has no idea about this but, he is wanting to become a Tri-Lingual interpreter as his career after the mission. With Sign Language English and Spanish. I' pumped.
Yesterday we went to Ina's and she committed to Baptism. His third day in the field and he threw out the invitation. I mean, it's hard enough in English let alone Sign-Language. It was a way cool experience.
This past week I had a pretty sweet experience. I think It's the fact that I am going to be home so soon. For District Meeting, we talked about the Why of why we are on a mission. For each person, it is different and each person has their own individual story. Well, we talked about the Why and about what Kept us on a mission. I started thinking and I think I had a big change of heart this week because of that. I guess a lot of songs pop into my head all the time..but as I was sitting there all I could think of was "I don't want no mediocre". This Opportunity I have to train right now has given me an opportunity to recommit myself and to just go harder than ever. It's been pretty sweet.
This week we have had a lot of success. We came across 8 new Investigators. All of them being Spanish and my Spanish has been improving constantly every day. We were able to schedule 5 return appointments just from contacts we made, which means we have even more potential! The Lord is definitely blessing us and me especially as I made that decision to recommit.
So It's been a great week! Transfer meeting I saw some great missionaries leave and return home and that got me even more pumped to be better. The more and more time that goes by just reminds me how many younger missionaries are looking up to me like them!
Funny story from day one of Elder Shaddick. Just to give you a little hint of the guy.
So We are heading home from Transfer meeting. There are four of us in the car and all of a sudden Elder Shaddick says "Have you guys ever just been hit by a truck"
We are all way confused and just say "what....?"
He says "I mean, I really gotta go to the bathroom right now"
I pull over and he goes into the closest bathroom.
While in there I hear "ohhh nooo"
He comes out and we all get in the car. I say, "Elder What Happened?"
He said, "You don't want to know, but I macgyvered my way out of a bathroom. Also, there are no posters left On that wall."
We were all so confused and burst into laughter! It was pretty funny!
Next good story.
We are at a lady's home talking to her about how God has a Plan for each and every one of us. She starts going super deep into her life and things started getting pretty intense. She tells me about her dealings with the cartels in Mexico and about how she has received threats from them multiple times that they will cut off her son's head and send it to her in a bag. It got better pretty quickly and the lesson ended well. As we leave Elder Shaddick says, "Man I'm getting the Spanish that was a great lesson. I understood Everything." I ask him what he understood and he said, "Well I heard you tell her we'd be back here on Tuesday".
I asked if he heard anything about the head in a bag. He just stared at me wide eyed and was like "Whaaaaa... Maybe I didn't understand very much" Hahaha It was a good time!
Love y'all and hope you have a good one!
