First Up... All Im gonna say is whenever someone tries to get you to do something stupid. Don't do it. Today we went to Downtown New Orleans for P-Day and we walked past the pepper palace. Home to the hottest hot sauces ever... Well we signed waivers and did it.. I was crying for a straight 20minutes. It was horrible.. And that's not the first time I have done stuff like that.. Hispanic Families think it is funny to watch a white boy chomp down a habanero. It is not fun at all....But it was a great memory.
So A little update on Juan.. The Basketball Brotha. Well I saw him again. We were driving down the street and I see him wearing his hat and in his Walmart work clothing. I Winded down the window and said "Hey Juan" He turned and looked at me and was like "Awww mannn....." and then put his head down. I'll get him one of these days!! It was good fun! He knows he needs to come to church.
My highlight of this week was exchanges. I got to go with Elder Glauser my District Leader. He's a stud. And I love him to death. I learnt a lot and one thing that was awesome was the amount of spanish we spoke. It definitely boosted my confidence even more. I was able to come back and speak alot better after that.
One funny story that happened while I was on Exchanges was when we went contacting. We stopped a man on the street and started talking. As time went on you could tell he was drunk out of his mind. He was not feeling his oats. Well we had an awesome conversation until a street sweeper pulled up right next to us, stopped, and then stayed there with the machine running. He started screaming at the street sweeper. "You're the Devil, You're the devil!!!"
He turned and look at us and said "This thing is the devil, all I wanna do is have my Jesus time!!! The Devvvvvilllll" He just kept going. Elder Glauser and I could not control ourselves! It was a good time. We found a bunch of investigators and somehow ran into three less actives from Honduras who werent on the church roster but hadn't come in years. It was crazy.
Another hilarious story. So this week, while weekly planning I came across a former investigator by the name of Nick, in the Area book. Well there wasn't any information on why he dropped us, and so I asked Elder Brosnahan about who he was.. No joke, two minutes later he call us/ He hadn't talked to the missionaries in a good eight weeks. Well he calls and says "Hey I miss my missionaries. Wanna come have some food??" We of course said yes and headed right over.
When We get there it turns out that there is a sweet 16 birthday party going on. We ate good that night. Well, we were about to leave when all of a sudden these 16 year old girls were surrounding us and started talking... We asked if we could share something. They all said yes and so Us, Nick and the girls all sat down in the living room for a lesson. Guess what we taught.... The Law of Chastity. Things went great. Elder Brosnahan started talking about how they were Daughters of god and started making them all cry.. I was trying so hard not to laugh.... but he probably made their night!
Another was the other day while driving. So I hear sirens, and look in the mirror and see lights flashing. It was an ambualance and a fire truck. The car in front pulled into the middle of the road. I followed them and then they started coming through. The ambulance and fire truck started slowing down and then all of a sudden stopped. Right next to us. Cars were stopped around us. Cops showed up and Ambulances were there too. People in front of us opened there doors and were panicking like crazy. We had just gotten stuck in the middle of something big. Well people in the car behind us ran by and everyone was running to the car literally 8 feet in front of us. It turns out the lady in there had a heart attack or passed out or something. Well, we got wedged in the middle of it all.. It was a crazy experience... Definitely wont forget that one!
Man there are so many cool stories. So we had service at a Therapeutical Horse Ranch again and I experienced a miracle. This little boy shows up who was unable to walk. Well, we got him on the saddles of the horse and sent him off, walking along side him. While we were walking the lady was telling us about how the horses trot is meant to simulate walking and is meant to eventually help the kids walk. Well, we take the little boy off the horse an hour later and we are holding his arms and what does he start doing? He starts walking. Step by step to his mum! She was in tears. It was a pretty heart touching moment. I was very grateful to be there for that.
Love yall so much!! I can't believe time is flying so fast. Right now I am like 3 1/2 weeks from my year mark. Time is going way to fast for my liking!!
Hope you have a great week!! I'll be praying for you all! :)
Love,
