Dang So this week was pretty crazy. I think we got like 4 or 5 weather warnings. You know, the phone starts beeping like crazy and the TV sirens go off and then you get an alert saying "STAY INSIDE, SEVERE WEATHER WARNING"Well, What do we do?? Of course, We go outside and take a look at what is going on! Well Most of the time all it was was some severe thunderstorms. But it was pretty cool. Well yesterday we have the same thing. We wake up to our phones going off, and the office had sent an email to the whole mission saying "You're all on Lockdown until further notice." Well, we get up and go outside. Things looked fine. Like nothing had even happened. Well I called Elder Casillas and tried to figure out what was going on.. He said "Bro, You need to trust me. You're not leaving the apartment." About 10minutes later we saw it.. A giant wall cloud is coming at us. You know, like the ones you see on stormchasers. Well the sky started getting a really dark green color. We were all just outside getting pumped because we were watching a tornado form.. Well it started getting closer and the cloud were spinning in circles.. We were loving it.. We haden't seen the funnel fully form yet, but I wanted to get a picture of it so bad. Well we were all having a great time until some lightning struck maybe 100ft from us and I almost died. Well A member called us about 30minutes later and said "Are you guys alright?? Some trains just got lifted off their tracks."
We were soooo pumped!!!
This week is transfers and I'll be staying in LaPlace. I'm pumped. We have seen many miracles these past few weeks!! Things are definitely picking up. At the end of the week I start having that feeling as though since everything was starting to pick up that I was going to be moved out. Turns out I was wrong.
That man Ashton that we met with is super solid. We sat down with him this week and began introducing him to the Book of Mormon. The Smile on his face was huge, something impossible to describe. We began reading with him. He replaced the word Nephi with his own name. I Ashton having been born of goodly parents. He grabbed his heart and once again the biggest smile. He started laughing. You know, one of those happy laughs.. He still has his hand on his heart and he is squeezing hard.. He looks up and says "Thank You God, Thank You" That was probably the coolest experience I have ever been apart of.. It is cool when you are in so many lessons filled with the spirit, that sometimes you get so used to the feeling that you kind of take it for granted. This moment was one of those times. It hit me again and I was so grateful for the opportunity that I have to have the Holy Ghost as my constant companion. He said to us that he can read the Book of Mormon in two days. I am excited to see how that goes!
This week, I went on Exchanges with Elder Joubert. My Homie back from BYU. I never thought that I would ever be serving with this guy. I still remember the day like yesterday when I was sitting in the cannon center eating my dinner when I hear him behind me at another table talking about how he had gotten his call to Louisiana Baton Rouge the same night.. I just turned around and was pumped. Well here we were, rocking the Streets of Kenner. It was a great time. Nothing is cooler than being side by side with a good friend, preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ. What makes it even better is that we are doing it in Spanish too. It brings me so much happiness!
Well, we had the opportunity to talk to many people and it was a great time. I love spanish so much! I definitely will be hitting south america sometime after the mission.
We have picked up a bunch of spanish investigators this past week. We have been praying to find more spanish work and it has started to just rain on us. Prayers really do get answered!! The other day we went tracting in this trailer park and we found like 4 or 5 new investigators who were super interested. We taught them and were able to set up follow up appointments. So the coolest thing to me is seeing another person feel the spirit as you teach in another language. I thought it was awesome being able to crack jokes in another language, but that truly is the best! I love it. Hispanics are so loving too and are so willing to take steps of faith.
Oh soooooo again this week we did the pepper palace challenge. Hopefully I can just get to the point where the temparature doesnt bother me at all. If there is one thing I have gained since being down here it is a tolerance for spices. The south is good for that. But throw hispanic culture in with it and you get the best of both worlds. You know, they love their Jalapenos and their Habaneros and man, they'll get ya. Well all these other Elders were acting all tough saying they were going to do it again and so we did it.. Well, it didnt hurt no where near as bad as last time.. I guess last time was just bad because of the Chip that got stuck in my throat.
Well, I don't really have any funny stories for you this week!! Love yall heaps and hope you have a great one :)
Que Les Vaya Bien!
