Its been a crazy week! One of the Craziest. But also one of the best.First of All, I'm being transferred. So that's nuts already. We got calls last night and every is leaving the westbank. It's pretty crazy. I have a feeling I am opening up a new area here though because I was told to keep my stuff close by! But yeah 6 Elders and 1 sister are moving just in the westbank. This transfer is a huge one! I'm excited to see what happens!
On Thursday some funny stuff happened. So we had an appointment with this Less-Active Women in our area set up. We got there, started talking and went on with our lesson. In the middle of the lesson, she mentioned something about a possum in her house and how she hasn't slept in months.
I remember her mentioning something like that a little earlier in the month but I thought nothing of it.
Well on thursday she mentioned that and instantly I said "Can we try and get it out?"
She was way skeptical. She then stared at me and was like " Holdup, you're from Australia right?"
I started lauhing and replied "Yes" and then she got up and walked into her house. The Grandmother came out and the daughter said to her "Mom, Elder Whitmarsh wants to try and kill the possum. Is that ok?" The grandmother just smiles. Mind you, the younger lady is like 50 and the other one is a lot older. Yeah so she smiles and just stares at me. I say "Do you have a baseball bat?" She turns around goes back in the house and returns pretty fast. "Ok don't hurt yourself!"
For the americans here, for some reason when I heard possum I was thinking of a cute little possum like they have in Australia, not these nasty looking rat things that are here.
AUSTRALIAN POSSUM BELOW.... AMERICAN POSSUM.....

Ok see the difference.. Ok well I go in there and man, did that scare me real bad.. I thought I became a real missionary for a second. Haha.. Well I move the bed and this thing is hissing like crazy and just starts running around like it's about to kill me. The lady releases her dog, and I feel like it is me vs the possum vs the dog. All free for all.. Anyway I took a swing at the Possum and Knocked it out cold... Or so I thought. This happened another 5 or 6 times. The possum definitely was playing possum until you would try to grab it or something and then start to attack again haha.. Finally it gets to a point where it is really knocked out. The dog is going nuts right now and My Companion Elder Lisonbee is hiding in the closet because the possum chased him. I picked up the 'dead' possum and tie it up in a towel. Something my parents taught me when I was younger in a similar situation. Well we head out say good bye and head to our dinner appointment. We get to armandos house and say "Tenemos la comida!"( We have the food.) He gets pumped and says "oooh Gato??" (Ooh Cat?) We say of course and start to open up the towel. The possum is alive and starts hissing like crazy haha. He flips and is screaming.. Quitelo Quiteloooooo. Eso es un Zorro. (Get it out, Remove it, that's a fox.) Hahaha we are all laughing like crazy at this point and so we take it to the canal and I kick it in. Good times.
Well that's the funny story of the week.
The awesome story of the week is that Eddy got baptized. Eddy Rene Lopez y Lopez.
It was an awesome service and the spirit was way strong. He had the biggest smile when he came up out of the water and it was one of the coolest moments of my life I would say. Just seeing a person you helped to come one step closer to Christ. Presidente Fossati, our Branch President baptized him and that was awesome because they were pretty close. After I gave a talk on the Holy Ghost and he was confirmed. It really was an awesome experience. Now him and his wife are both baptized and the son is almost 8 years old. So that's way cool.
I think there is no better way ending a transfer than seeing an investigator come into the waters of Baptism. Right now I can't even describe how I am feeling but I am very excited for him!!
As for transfers, I'll keep you guys posted! Wish me luck! Hahah Love you guys alot and so grateful for everything y'all do! Andan a La Brega!
Con Amor,
Elder Whitmarsh
