Saturday evening was pretty cool. So we were walking down the street in a town called Amelia. 98% hispanic or something. I think I've talked a little about it previously but it is where most of our spanish is located.
So we are walking down the street trying to share a message with someone we come across. There are two guys just fixing their car. They turn around and we start talking. Things are going very good. We talk and we hit the basic convo and just get to know each other. We are having a good little discussion which was coming out very solid. The next thing you know, their friend rolls up in his SUV and jumps out. Almost instantly he starts throwing bible scriptures at me. It was crazy. Its already hard enough to deal with these kind of situations in english let alone spanish. So I was real nervous. Elder Shaddick is just looking at me probably waiting to see my first move. I say a quick little prayer of comfort and start talking. I understand everything he says to me and I am able to share my testimony and explain what it is saying. It was a sweet experience. My first hispanic bible bash. The difference between this and others though was that this guy legitimately was just trying to learn. You could tell he had a solid testimony of these things. He wasn't trying to fight but only trying to understand more. There were a lot of things that came up but about an Hour and Half later we had had some great discussion. The sun had gone down and It was starting to get cool. I remember him saying something about Joseph Smith that was quite negative and instantly I kinda fired up. I bore my testimony and stared him right in the eye. I told him that he could not deny my testimony of Prophets on the earth today. I asked him about James 1:5 which he quoted from memory. I then asked him if he believed that. He said of course. So I committed him to pray about this book he would read and If Joseph Smith truly was a prophet. His demeanor changed. He looked at the book and he said he would read it! He said he knew that God would answer him if he read and prayed! It was an awesome little experience. Elder Shaddick bounces in at the right time and shares his testimony and we both had a sweet experience with this guy. We will be seeing him this week! I'm pumped!
I had exchanges with Elder Ainge and it was pretty sick again. We hit up the local park to contact some people and get a little ball in. These guys looked at us like we were scrubs. All of them like 25+. We jump in and it starts getting real good. Elder Ainge said a few of them showed up at church which is pretty sick!
Oh another sweet experience. So one of our investigators actually got double eye surgery these week. We show up at his house and start talking to him. The weird part was that he was face down on his couch and is not allowed to lift his head for two weeks. It was a cool little lesson there for a few reasons. First of all he had a leopard pelt just on the wall staring at me. Scariest thing ever. Next thing, He was laying face down so It was kinda a little awkward. But I think this was the coolest part.
His wife seemed very content. I asked he if she was scared or anything. She responded to me almost instantly in spanish. "Con Dios, no Hay temor. La Fe que tenemos ya ha quitado el temor. Somos con dios"
It was awesome. (With God, There is no fear. The faith we have has already removed the fear.) It was way powerful!! It was a neat moment.
We also got on our EggNog grind this week too because shoot, what's christmas without EggNog, Shoutout to Wakes for that one.
The elders here in Mo City are definitely already feeling our oats! We have our tree up, Christmas card wall, and stocking hanging. WE READY!!
Ohhh also, ate some tongue this week. Lengua tacos. The best thing I have ever eaten no joke. They were way good :) Photos Below.
One more. Remember a while back the lady hitting on us in the restaurant and gave us all this money?? Well she is the english's investigator haha and is THE most racist person ever. It's horrible!!
Love yall and hope you have a sweet christmas week. ChequePues
